Chosen by God!

To avoid actions that are merely external and hypocritical, we must allow God’s Spirit to penetrate our hearts with biblical truth. The Word itself tells us of its power to penetrate our hearts. It happened at salvation and it continues throughout our lives. Our job is to allow it to penetrate our hearts by studying it consistently and applying it to our lives.

“For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.” (Hebrews 4:12 TPT)

We must be careful and prayerful in our study of Scripture to allow it to help us to avoid behavior that is merely external and hypocritical. The Word of God reflects the character of God. When we make the Word of God our anchor we become more like Him. Accepting Jesus as Savior and making Him Lord of our lives begins an internal change that impacts how we act externally. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in us we reflect His character:

“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[a]that can bring a charge].” (Galatians 5:22-23 AMPC)

When we allow the fruit of the Spirit to be our compass our external behavior will submit to our internal transformation.

This is my prayer for myself and all those I come in contact with because only God can transform us and firmly establish us:

“And I pray that he would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.” (Ephesians 3:16-17 TPT)
