“Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul.” (II Timothy 2:16-17 MSG)

In terms of communicating God’s truth, we should watch our words carefully when people want to engage in unprofitable communication. As believers we must be careful to avoid engaging in unprofitable conversation.

It is important to consider what you saying, why you are saying it, where you are saying it, and who is listening. Your conversations should have godly purpose. You should not give in to gossip, back biting, jealousy, or envy, as each can result in unhealthy talk.

You must tread gently because God created every single person and Jesus died for each person, even the ones you don’t like or get on your nerves. In reality to speak against God’s children is to speak against Him. You must consider our words carefully.
