DAY 2 - 31 DAYS OF PROVERBS!

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Read Proverbs 2

Thoughts from Proverbs 2:

  • Tune your ears to wisdom

  • Concentrate on understanding

  • Cry out for insight

  • Ask for understanding

  • Search

  • Seek

WHY?

To understand the fear of the Lord!

Understand - bîyn, to separate mentally (or distinguish), i.e.(generally) understand:—attend, consider, be cunning, diligently, direct, discern, eloquent, feel, inform, instruct, have intelligence, know, look well to, mark, perceive, be prudent, regard, (can) skill(-full), teach, think, (cause, make to, get, give, have) understand(-ing), view, (deal) wise(-ly, man). (Strongs H995)

Fear - yirʼâh, morally, reverence (Strong's H3374)

Continued thoughts from Proverbs 2:

  • Gain knowledge of God

  • God grants wisdom, knowledge, and understanding - He wants us to have it

  • A treasure of common sense - a lack of common sense is a lack of accessing God's wisdom and understanding

  • Shielded, watched over - protected when we walk in integrity

  • Understand what is right, just and fair

  • Direction - finding the right way to go (I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!” - Psalm 32:8-9 TPT)

  • Make wise choices

  • Safety - wisdom saves you from evil

The verses that spoke to me:

"Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:2-6 NLT)

My takeaway:

I must tune into, lean into, God's wisdom. It's available to me. God's not going to force me to get wisdom but will continually remind me its' here for me. I must make it my priority. I desire His wisdom, insight, knowledge, and understanding so I will seek it daily.

FAITH CONFESSION:

Lord, help me to fine tune my ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. I am crying out and searching for Your insight and understanding. With them, I will know what it means to fear (reverence and respect), You while gaining more knowledge of You. In this Abba, let Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven through my interactions with others. All I need is found in You!

Share in the comments what verse spoke to you and why. Let's grow in wisdom together.

Proverbs 2:11 TPT-If you choose to follow good counsel, divine design will watch over you and understanding will protect you from making poor choices.

God’s word always gives us the wisdom to make good choices in life.

Proverbs 2:7-8

"He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones."

My Takeaway:

I have been looking for success in the wrong place, which to me means I'm not blameless. God has provided me with success daily and I always, want something more. I'm not being grateful for what is given me daily and not being faithful enough to say thank you. I need to spend more time with Him so that He can continue to guard my course.

Replying to

Amen! I had to learn to see success from God's perspective in order to appreciate what He was doing in me and through me. The world's way will never get it right and the cost is too high.
