ACTIVE PERSISTENCE!

Updated: Aug 3, 2022

“Let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith. (Hebrews 12:1b-2a AMPC)

Some key phrases from this verse that will help me run my race:

Patient endurance – I can’t give up no matter what I may face. Instead, I will trust God knowing whatever I face is not a surprise to Him and He will provide a way out.

“But now [in spite of past judgments for Israel’s sins], thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43:1-3a AMPC)

Active persistence – I must stay on course, my course, that You, Abba Father, have determined and appointed, for me to walk. When I stay in my lane, I will have all of the resources I need to succeed.

“And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” (Galatians 6:9 AMPC)

Avoid distractions – I will stay focused on my journey, while leaving others to their journey. I cannot be sidetracked by good things at the expense of God things. I cannot compromise my journey by making detours. Instead, I will keep my eyes on Jesus, the Leader and Source, the Perfector, the Author and Finisher of my faith. All I need is found in Him.

“Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions. Watch where you’re going! Stick to the path of truth, and the road will be safe and smooth before you. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked for even a moment or take the detour that leads to darkness.” (Proverbs 4:25-27 TPT)

Jesus was able to remain composed through all those trials because the vision in His heart was bigger than all the threats, accusations, and insults.” (Dr. Myles Munroe)

FAITH CONFESSION:

In all I face I will remember the importance of the vision You, Abba Father, have entrusted to me. I can stay true to completing the vision by keeping my eyes on You while trusting You to continually lead and guide me.

In the meantime I will hold on to this promise from God's Word:

I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!” (Psalm 32:8-9 TPT)
