For real! Glamorizing and equating success with working crazy hours, giving a job loyalty to the point of exhaustion, medical issues, losing family time, and allowing them to pimp your intellectual property for their profit while limiting your potential to grow and earn equitably is crazy!
I'm not saying don't work to the best of your ability. I am saying weigh the cost because you are giving something up. I don't know anyone who was dying who wished they'd spent more time at work. The price may be less material things but more quality time with loved ones, peace, and just living and enjoying life. Only you know the answer to that.
Maybe it comes down to redefining what success really means!
Sadly, I did it too many times, gave more than I should have. The lesson I've learned is it really means nothing to them because once they've gotten all they can get out of you they will eliminate your position or just lay you off in a heartbeat with no remorse. There's no loyalty to the workers.
Work life balance is key and should not be sacrificed on the altar of making a living, because honestly, while you have money, you're really not living!
