DISCERNMENT!

Updated: May 25, 2023

“Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!” (Proverbs 3:6-7 MSG)

Listening for God’s voice and to God’s voice is key to getting His direction and perspective on your life. You must be intentional about doing this, or the busyness of life will distract you. Listening to His voice will enhance how you make decisions, give you discernment, and help you to fulfill your purpose. Take time to spend time with God. Make reading His Word daily a priority.

“And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21 AMPC)

Putting discernment into action in every area of my life is key. I need to see from God's perspective. I need to see hearts and recognize what's healthy and lifegiving and what's unhealthy and destructive. I believe God wants to show us things and there are some things, when we walk closely with God, we don't have to experience to learn life lessons. There are some traps we can avoid just by having a spirit of discernment and seeing from God's perspective.

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ," (Philippians 1:9‭-‬10 NKJV)

I'm paying close attention to actions, not words now. I've asked God for greater discernment in this area. I want to know before I engage with people and in things if I should be involved. Listening to Holy Spirit can save you a lot of heartache!

A TRANPARENCY MOMENT:

We must check people's hearts. I told God, "I don't want to see the good in people, I want to see the heart of people!" I want to know who they really are, not who they present themselves to be, or even pretend to be. I want discernment that sees through the garbage, the deceptions, and the straight up lies and lack of integrity. While I expect this from unbelievers it's the believers that have caught me off guard and wounded my heart.

I'm encouraged though because discernment can keep me in a safe place in God. When I let Him show me people, and trust what He's shown I'll be able to tread the shark filled waters of life.

THIS IS MY PRAYER:

"Teach me good judgment, wise and right discernment, and knowledge, for I have believed (trusted, relied on, and clung to) Your commandments." (Psalm 119:66 AMPC)

FAITH CONFESSION:

Lord stillness is where I am intentionally parking. No distractions! It is a time of consecrated and concentrated quality time of stillness in You. I want, desire, crave more of You and deeper depths of understanding and discernment to clearly read a situation and people so I can respond in a way that honors You.

Be Encouraged! ❤
