“Now when the time was almost come for Jesus to be received up [to heaven], He steadfastly and determinedly set His face to go to Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:51 AMPC)
Let’s look at the meaning of a few key words in this verse to help us better understand the level of commitment Jesus displayed in doing His Father’s will:
Steadfastly - firmly; with constancy or steadiness of mind (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary)
Determined - Ended; concluded; decided; limited; fixed; settled; resolved; directed; Having a firm or fixed purpose, as a determined man (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary)
Set - To put or place; to fix (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary)
Go - to move or proceed; to keep or be in motion; function or perform as required; to become as specified (Dictionary.com)
Even knowing the outcome Jesus was determined to be where the Father needed Him to be, at the appointed time to fulfill Scripture and to redeem us from eternal death and the grave. O, what a love!
“I am able to do nothing from Myself [independently, of My own accord—but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders]. Even as I hear, I judge [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to Me, so I give a decision], and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will [I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself, My own aim, My own purpose] but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me.” (John 5:30 AMPC)
Lord let this become my heart’s desire and my focus as I live out each day of my life. Let Your will be done in every area of my life.

FAITH CONFESSION:
Yes, Abba Father, I am willing to surrender all to You. Show me any area I have not completely yielded to You. No more distractions. Like Mary I Desire the Needful thing – YOU – more than anything else. Show me how to consistently make You my priority daily.
