POWER IN HUMILITY!

Updated: Mar 25, 2023

"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8 AMPC)

We should always demonstrate a deep sense of humility in our walk with God and in our relationships with all people.

“Just as the Son of Man came not to be waited on but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [the price paid to set them free].” (Matthew 20:28 AMPC)

This Scripture shows us the key to demonstrating humility. It’s through service and serving others that we can best demonstrate Christlike humility. When we are willing to give of ourselves, especially when it costs us something, (time, talent, finances, etc.) is when we look more like Jesus.

“Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].” (Philippians 2:3 AMPC)

What we do should not be about praise from people, to be seen, admired, or praised. It should be with a heart of service and remembering that all we do in word and actions should be unto the Lord and for His glory.

“For most of us, life is a series of uncelebrated steps. But God often writes His story right in the middle of our ordinary everyday affairs.” (Krista Williams – Proverbs 31 Ministry)

We should remember that God sees us, even when, or if, no one else sees us or wants to acknowledge us. When we do what we do to honor God then we will walk in humility. Our goal should be to hear His, “Well done My good and faithful servant.”

One more thing. God's grace is tied to the humble! And God's grace is His power.

"But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it)." (James 4:6 AMPC)
