Please read Mark 4:1-20, The Parable of the Sower.
To help people overcome their sinful attitudes and actions, we should continually expose them to the Word of God. It is only the Word of God that can transform lives. The parable of the sower shows us the power of the Word of God and the obstacles it can face in taking root in our lives. In this parable the seed sown is the Word. Jesus explains the soil, this is our hearts, where the Word falls and how the Word is received. Satan will immediately come to steal the Word from our hearts before it can be firmly rooted. Based on how we anchor the Word in our hearts will determine his success or failure.
The essence of this parable is that we must guard the Word of God by letting it take root in our hearts nurturing it to make sure it grows. We cannot allow the cares and pressures of this world to cause us to become distracted or to give up. Jesus told us we were going to have tribulations and trials in this world, but He also said to be of good cheer because He has defeated the world removing its power to harm us. He said we could have His peace through the trials. We must remember this is available to us always as believers.
"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]" (John 16:33 AMPC)
We cannot allow worries to choke the Word out of our lives. Instead, we must focus on the Word and not our cares trusting God to work it out for our good. We must make the Word our priority, our vital necessity.
"We are assured and know that [[a]God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose." (Romans 8:28 AMPC)
Finally, we can’t allow material things to become our goal. It’s important to remember that the earth is not our home and life here is temporary.
Ultimately our goal must be to cultivate hearts so that when the Word is heard, it falls on good ground producing a harvest from the seed sown. The Word is powerful and in all we do we must remember this. The Word is the foundation and anchor of our faith. The more we hear the Word the stronger our faith becomes. That’s the key to cultivating a heart that is good ground for the Word to grow in and become productive and powerful in our lives.
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17 NKJV)
Sow the Word of God in faith and expect a harvest!
"Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]." (Hebrews 11:1 AMPC)
