THE POWER OF WORDS

"But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. 10 Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts]." (James 3:8-10 AMP)

Lord, let my words be a faucet of blessings, life, and encouragement to all I speak to. Let my words bring them a glimpse of Your love, Father.

"A man’s stomach will be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; He will be satisfied with the consequence of his words. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words." (Proverbs 18:20-21 AMP)

When I can't or don't want to speak words of life, shut my mouth like the angel of the Lord shut Zechariah's mouth.

Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.” (Luke 1:19‭-‬20 NLT)

I know that was so he wouldn't speak his doubts against the promise of God. I don't want to speak words of doubt, death, and destruction in the lives of others. I want to encourage the promises they are believing You for, Abba, Father.

This is my heart's cry:

"Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips." (Psalms 141:3 NLT)
