CHRONICLES FROM THE PORCH - FINAL ILLINOIS EDITION

Know and read the Word for yourself. What you don't know can impact your spiritual health and growth. Just like you feed yourself in the natural, you must feed yourself spiritually. There are certain places you eat at and some you avoid, there should be the same awareness when it comes to spiritual food. Let it be prepared and served from the Father and not presented from individual interpretation or for crafty manipulation.

Don't leave your spiritual growth solely in any one person's, or ministry's, hands. You can't eat everywhere either. Begin with reading, studying, and meditating on the Word of God from His Word, the Bible.Take ownership of your own spiritual growth. This is too important to leave to chance if you want to be spiritually healthy, grow, and become all God created you to be and do.

Just because someone with a title said it doesn't mean it came from the Word of God. Know God's Word for yourself. A lack of knowledge will destroy you. (See Hosea 4:6) Know who is speaking into your life because words are powerful! They hold the power of life and death. They can be creative or destructive. You choose! (See Proverbs 18:21)

"Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world." (1 John 4:1 NLT)

Learn to recognize error and not support it. Too many are twisting the Word of God to validate what they are doing, or want you to do. If it doesn't align with the Word of God do not accept it, do it, or say it.

Jesus didn't compromise and neither should we!

It's so important to develop a personal relationship with God. Let Holy Spirit lead and guide you to truth. Ask questions. Be teachable, but not be gullible. If they say it, there should be Scripture, biblical principles, to back it up. Don't be afraid to ask where it is in the Bible. If it can't be proven there move on. There's no new Gospel or personal interpretation of God's Word. God does not, will not, ever contradict His Word. God said what He said and He meant what He said. His Word is final.

"The sky and the earth (the universe, the world) will pass away, but My words will not pass away." (Luke 21:33 AMPC)

"Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. Do not add to his words, or he may rebuke you and expose you as a liar." (Proverbs 30:5‭-‬6 NLT)

“So be careful to obey all the commands I give you. You must not add anything to them or subtract anything from them." (Deuteronomy 12:32 NLT)

I leave you with this command from the Word of God:

"Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth." (2 Timothy 2:15 AMPC)

This Scripture is for all disciples of Christ! God wants us all to be intimately acquainted with Him and His Word because He desires an intimate relationship with us individually, in addition to a corporate relationship. Seek a church that focuses on relationship, not membership. There is a difference. Relationship brings life, health, and growth spiritually. We are the body of Christ, not a club, gang, or click!
