“What do you mean, ‘If I can?’” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” (Mark 9:23 NLT)
Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” (Matthew 9:29 NLT)
Delays and prayers that seem to go unanswered have more to do with us than God. He hears us when we pray. He looks at our faith and what we’re saying. Does our faith and our words match what we’ve asked for in prayer? The miracles Jesus did were contingent upon the recipient’s faith.
I would venture to submit for your consideration that some prayers aren’t being answered because we really don’t believe they will be answered. We’ve determined, based on our finite minds, that the situation really can’t be changed. While we’ve asked God to intervene, we’re wishing He would and not applying faith with hope.
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” (Hebrews 11:1 AMPC)
When we know something belongs to us no one can talk us out of it! None of us would entertain someone walking into our house and telling us it belongs to them. We would not entertain, for a moment, someone trying to take our car telling us it’s theirs. When we get on an airplane, we trust that we’ll arrive at our destination without questioning the pilot or their ability to even fly the plane! So why can’t we believe what God’s Word declares to be true about us and for us? Why can’t we have the same confidence in what His Word says and what mortgage papers and titles say is ours?
Maybe it’s time to apply this level of faith to the things of God. Stand on His Word, and trust, without wavering, without considering what we see or how we feel, that anything is possible if a person believes. When we do that, we will experience because of your faith, it will happen moments.
